Mom allegedly uses daughter's ID to be cheerleader
GREEN BAY, Wis. - A 33-year-old woman stole her daughter's identity to attend high school and join the cheerleading squad, according to a criminal complaint filed against the woman.
Wendy Brown, of Green Bay, faces a felony identity theft charge after enrolling in Ashwaubenon High School as her 15-year-old daughter, who lives in Nevada with Brown's mother.
According to the complaint, Brown wanted to get her high school degree and become a cheerleader because she didn't have a childhood and wanted to regain a part of her life that she'd missed.

Secondly, Rush 2008 is finally over. Zeta Psi picked up 15 awesome pledges, making this currently the largest class that of 2005. Job well done, guys!
I'd like to make a few remarks on the last two games in the recent Rays-Sox series at Fenway. Game 2: I was watching with Eric from the Z-Center when the Rays were up a run in the bottom of the 8th with 2 outs and Youkilis on first. I said, "Eric, this is a perfect Fenway comeback. Just watch." He protested, but then I reminded him that this is the time when the Sox always come back by virtue of that damn Fenway voodoo. And then, just like that, Jason Bay cranks one over the monster to give Boston the late-inning lead. My first reaction was to laugh. My second, however, was to release a slew of profanities which included: "Dammit Bay! You were traded to replace Manny as a man on the roster--not to become his clutch bat!"
Needless to say, I was not happy. But I told Eric that if the Rays were serious, they'd have to rally against that idiot Papelbon himself. Jonathan started out in a 3-0 hole against a rookie, but then fought back to 3-2. But then he made that mistake of throwing one-too-many fastballs, and boom. Home run. The Rays blew his save and tied the game. My first reaction was to laugh. My second was for my jaw to drop. It's September and I'm still asking: who are the Rays?! Then they followed up the HR with consecutive doubles, which ultimately scored the winning run. Whoa.
Funniest part: Brett (Rays fan) and Holly were at the game. Brett left me a voicemail after the Bay home run to the effect of: "This is a sad sad day for baseball." After the win, he left another that went: "Scratch that. This is an excellent day for baseball! Excellent!" Ah, yet another reason why I love this game--it's not over until it's over (unless you're the 2008 Yankees).
Game 3: I thought it was a rule of life that no visiting team, other than the Yankees, could hold on to a tie or 1-run lead at Fenway. I guess we should add the Rays to that list, too. However they managed to hold on until the 14th is beyond me. After Pena hit the home run though, I love how the Sox managed to turn it on in the bottom of the inning, e.g. make Percival forget how to throw strikes and load the bases with no outs. But then the Rays bamboolzed me AGAIN and got out of it safely. *Phew*
...now if only the Yankees can conveniently get swept by them, the AL East lead could be kept further our of Boston's grubby hands.
Six MLB games were postponed yesterday due to rainy conditions. As a result of this, there are 20 games to be played today, including 6 doubleheaders. Pennant races could get very interesting by Sunday morning.
Part of postponements were due to Hurricane Ike ripping through Texas and heading up through the midwest. I send out my best wishes to everyone affected by that storm, especially in Galveston and Houston. I know a few people who decided to stay and rough it out, and...yeah.
And finally, onto Ms. Sarah Palin. This is the same Ms. Palin who would go to war with Russia, doesn't know what the Bush Doctrine is, and who claims she has foreign policy experience because Alaska is "next to" Russia. Are. You. Kidding. Me. This woman's is completely clueless and is currently extremely unprepared to be vice-president of the United States. Yet, McCain supporters defend her by saying: "Her interview was a little rocky, but she's almost ready. Almost ready?! This is coming from the same group of people who claim that Obama was never "ready" and never will be. Unreal.
There's a lot of doublethink that's emerged as of late. This is from a much longer email forward, but the following points ring the most true:
If you are running as a White Woman "R", being new on the scene is refreshing! And sadly, people are accepting this. This makes me believe that I understand the Republican strategy: to make a farce of our electoral system. If they can win on pastors and lipstick and other non-issues with a ticket made up of Bush 2.0 and a "hockey mom", it will show that our system is broken. Well no, scratch that. The system will work--it will just prove that those running it are total idiots.
If you are running while a Black "D", being new on the scene is frightening!
If you are running as a White Woman "R", you can be naive about foreign policy, and it is no big deal.
If you are running while a Black "D", you must know about foreign policy, and still be called naive.
If you are running as a White Woman "R", you can become a celebrity overnight based on scandals, and that's a good thing.
If you are running while a Black "D", being called a celebrity makes you a lightweight, not ready to lead.
If you are running as a White Woman "R", you do not have to answer press questions
If you are running while a Black "D", your answers to the press are never quite good enough
If you are running as a White Woman "R", you can belong to an extremist church.

If you are running while a Black "D", the details that you provide are never detailed enough.
If you are running as a White Woman "R", your family is out of bound.
If you are running while a Black "D", your family deserves scrutiny, including your wife's college thesis.
If you are running as a White Woman "R", being chosen by your running mate is good enough.
If you are running while a Black "D", earning 18 million votes after 18 months on the trail, doesn't mean we "know" you.
If you are running as a White Woman "R", White Women will flock to you, even if they don't share your views, because you are making history!
If you are running while a Black "D", Blacks voters only vote for you because you are black, and that's racism!
...and then I'll be moving overseas!
