The Comebackers

How do you know a team's good? They can overcome an embarrassing sweep to win the next game in true come-from-behind fashion. The Twins, down 6-2 at one point, put together a rally that culminated in tying the game against Detroit's Todd Jones, and then ultimately took the lead (which led to the win) on Justin's Morneau's solo shot in the 11th, which was also his fifth hit of the game. Brilliant.

It's funny though. Even despite their impressive first half, people still refuse to believe the Twins are for real. Why is this? Because it's too hard to accept the fact that they're winning with heart with only a few big names on the roster? Newsflash folks: baseball doesn't make sense. If it did, the Yankees would be some 15-20 games over .500 right now thanks to what should be a torrid offense. If the Bronx Bombers can be 6.5 games behind the Rays, the Twins can take the AL Central in September. Just watch!

(And likewise, the Yanks can rally back and take the East, too :-)).

Speaking of the Yankees, they're about to formally finish interleague play with this final game against the Pirates in a few. Moose is going for his 12th, and I hope to GOD the offense can give it to him. I mean, yes they won yesterday, but the inability to score runs was excruciating. Turn it around, guys!

And to close this post off, the NL West makes baseball look bad:
Arizona........... 45 46 .495
Los Angeles....... 45 46 .495
San Francisco..... 39 53 .424
Colorado.......... 39 54 .419
San Diego......... 36 56 .391
Ha! Pathetic! And those are the DBacks who started 20-8! Good grief...this may be the year a sub-500 team makes it into October. What a mockery that would be.
