First we had the Tampa Bay Rays being the leaders in the AL East. Then we had the Brewers and Twins rising as serious contenders in season where people didn't expect much from them. Now we have the Los Angeles Angels winning their 8th game in a row against the Red Sox (and sweeping them at Fenway), ultimately taking the season series 8-1. WHAT IS GOING ON?!
Not to mention the fact that very few teams are winning on the road. All-in-all, we have divisions that currently look like this:
AL East:
Rays
Red Sox.............3GB
Yankees.............4GB
AL Central:
White Sox
Twins.............1.5GB
NL East:
Phillies
Mets..............0.5GB
Marlins...........1.5GB
NL Central:
Cubs
Brewers.............4GB
Cardinals...........4GB
NL West:
Diamondbacks
Dodgers.............1GB
Only the Angels in the AL West will know their playoff fate before the end of September--you can quote me on that.
While we're at it, why not mention that Pudge Rodriguez is on the Yankees and the serious talk about Manny going to Florida. This is some insane stuff!
