He didn't speak

Or rather, he did, but the words were something along the lines of "We haven't made a decision yet, we're taking our time, etc. etc. etc." And I'm three degrees of separation from Don Mattingly, and there's nothing coming from that front yet. So maybe there's been a decision. Maybe there hasn't. Perhaps we'll find out today. Who knows.

(I'm talking about the search for a new Yankee manager, for those of you who are clueless.)

Also, on the Minnesota Twins side, the club decided to pick up Joe Nathan's option for 2008, giving him $6M and talk about a long-term deal. Finally! The FO has done something right! Perhaps this means they'll be holding onto Santana too (like there was any question about that.)

I wonder how this will affect what Mo Rivera asks for? Whatever it is, give it to the man...

Let's talk about things that anger me. Oh, how about we begin with recent bandwagon sports fans, specifically those of the Red Sox variety. There is a simple two-step test to seeing if you're a bandwagoner or not:

(1) Did you care about baseball before you came to college?
> If NO, you're a bandwagon fan!
> If YES, go to (2)
(2) Did you care about the Red Sox before you came to college?
> If NO, you're a bandwagon fan!
> If YES, then you're a true member of RSN. Are you proud?

The most obnoxious thing for me over the past few weeks has been the people who act like they're lifelong Sox fans but don't know anything about the game and/or team. They can only name Manny, Ortiz, Beckett, and Papelbon from memory, they have no clue why those players are considered good ("What's an are-bee-eye?"), they couldn't tell you a thing about the history of the franchise, and, when they see me wearing my usual gear, they've been conditioned to say "Yankees suck!" without having any clue about why there's a rivalry in the first place.

However, that's not by biggest issue with the bandwagoners.

No sir. The worst is when these poser fans, sucked into the sports culture because they go to school here, refer to the Red Sox as "we." Umm, no. You have no right to use that pronoun when you don't know a thing about the team. Do you feel excruciating pain after a tough loss? Do you walk on air after an amazing win? Is your entire emotional state linked to every move--both during and outside of the season--that the players and executives make? Didn't think so. Living across the river from Fenway does not give you all the rights of a true fan, especially if you spent the first 20 years of your life living on a farm in the midwest. You're insulting diehard Sox fans, and above all, you're insulting sports fans in general.

(I say in general because bandwagon Yankees fans drive me insane for the exact same reasons.)

I love confusing them all. It's been cold as of late, so I've been wearing my Yankees winter jacket along with my usual hat. They kinda stare and sometimes go, "Yankees suck! Why are you still supporting them? They're not even in the World Series!" Sorry idiots...I don't sell my fandom on eBay after rough times :-).

Maybe if RSN had a purging they'd be more tolerable? Haha, nooo. Because then they'd lose that predictable RSN charm!

It's actually very well written, and I agree with most of it (although Firefox IS better than IE, dammit.)
